Herbert Van Vleek, Jr. age 95 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Van Vleek was born on September 4, 1924 in Norfolk, Virginia to Herbert Van Vleek, Sr. and Nellie Lane Van Vleek. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Thomas Van Vleek and Stanley Van Vleek.

He is survived by his wife Mary Van Vleek of Galax, Virginia; children and their spouses Aimee Van Vleek Dalton and Myron; Josh Moose of Low Gap, North Carolina; Tammy Flippen and Barry of Centerville, Georgia; Gloria Liddle and Richard of Galax, Virginia; Herbert Van Vleek III of Norfolk, Virginia; Deb Roane and Mike of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren Joshua Moose; Joseph Moose; Matthew Flippen (Mandy); Sarah Hester (Brock); Jeremiah Flippen (Courtney); Leah Hauck (Aaron); Abigail Dalton; Lucas Dalton; Conner Dalton; David Bosley; Anna Roane;  and eleven great-grandchildren Liberty Grace Moose; Elijah Flippen; Gabriel Flippen; Isaiah Flippen; Noah Flippen; Caleb Hester; Cadence Hester; Elliott Flippen; Carter Flippen; Levi Hauck and Zoe Hauck.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Fairview Baptist Church with Pastor Myron Dalton and Pastor Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the funeral service.
