Herbert "Hub" Cooper Spurlin's Obituary
Herbert Cooper Spurlin, better known as "Hub", age 74, Galax, VA, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at his home.
Mr. Spurlin was born Feb. 10, 1942 in Alleghany County, NC to Mack Clate and Bessie Lou Edwards Spurlin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mack Clate Spurlin, Jr. and half brother, Jake Spurlin.
He is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Vince and Vicki Spurlin, Edgewater, MD. and Stephen Wayne Spurlin; sister, Dorothy Sizemore, Galax, VA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Donald Ray & Shirley Spurlin, Halethorpe, MD: Earl Dwight & Shelia Spurlin, Severn, MD. Two grandchildren and thirteen nieces & nephews, also, survive.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel, Galax, VA with burial to follow in the Glade Creek Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dorothy Sizemore and Pastor Lee Houston.
