Henry Benjamin Mckinney's Obituary
Henry Benjamin "Bud" McKinney, age 83, of Galax, Virginia passed away Jan. 14, 2010.
Mr. McKinney was born Nov. 4, 1926 in Lake Worth, Florida to Clarence H. & Leila Mae Harpe McKinney.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann in 2000.
He is survived by four children, James A. McKinney of Buford, GA, Matthew E. McKinney of Butler, TN, Stacey N. McKinney of Galax, VA and Mark O. McKinney of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by two grandsons: Joshua and Daniel, and two great-grandsons, Caleb & Cyle. Two sisters also survive: Marjorie Willcox, Greensboro, NC and Elizabeth Hickman, Haines City, FL.
Bud served as a seaman in the US Navy during World War II. After graduating from the US Air Force Officers Candidate School he continued his service as a fighter pilot in the Korean War, and later as a Flight Instructor. He retired as a Major from the USAF after a distinguished career in the air.
A devoted father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
Services and burial will be held at the Countryside Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL.
