Helen Josephine Barker Whisenhunt age 86 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Whisenhunt was born on July 1, 1930 in Carroll County, Virginia to Robert D. and Celia Eda Goodson Barker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Maney Wesley Whisenhunt, Jr.; sisters Hattie Hawks, Trustie Bryant and Odessa Hawks; brother Harvey Barker.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly W. Morrison of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Stacy W. and Betty Whisenhunt of Galax, Virginia; three grandchildren Junine Morrison, Rick Whisenhunt (Crystal) and Joshua L. Morrison; one great-granddaughter Kami Jo Whisenhunt.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Rodney Christman and Pastor James Cowley officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
