Helen Doris Davis Thomas age 95 of Bassett, Virginia and formerly of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the Stanleytown Health & Rehab Center in Bassett, Virginia.

Mrs. Thomas was born on June 8, 1920 in Grayson County, Virginia to Lemuel and Mary Frances Dodson Davis. In addition her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Arthur Thomas; son James Donald Thomas; sister Virginia Davis Moser; brothers Robert Davis and L.D. Davis.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Judith Branch Thomas of Collinsville, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Elizabeth Suzanne and Eddie Woolwine; Blake Flemming and Joyce Thomas; great-grandchildren and spouse Natalie and Mark Gongloff; Kelsey Nicole Woolwine; Mitchell Ryan Woolwine and Casey Blake Thomas; great-great-grandchild Alley Jordan Gongloff and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Vale Cemetery. The body will lie-in-state at the Mt. Vale United Methodist Church one hour prior to the graveside service Saturday. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
