Helen Kathryn Byrd McKenzie age 84 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday October 24, 2022 in the Galax Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. McKenzie was born in Grayson County, Virginia on January 2, 1938 to Bruce Hampton and Imajean Chipman Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leroy McKenzie and brother-in-law Jerry McKenzie.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Donna McKenzie and Jeff Bond; Lucinda and James Carrico; son and daughter-in-law Timmy and Peggy McKenzie; sister and brother-in-law Della and Ralph Vaughan; brothers and sisters-in-law Monte and Pat Rector all of Galax, Virginia; Ronald and Carolyn Byrd of Delaware; grandchildren and spouses Mabel and Mark Hash; Heather McKenzie; Denton and Lisa McKenzie; Nick Carrico; Dustyn Carrico; great-grandchildren Audrey Blizzard; Bella Nester; Jane McKenzie and Nathaniel McKenzie; several nieces and nephews

The funeral service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Michael Senter officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
