Hazen Reed Burnette age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday April 14, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing Home.

Mr. Burnette was born in Carroll County, Virginia on May 31, 1937 to Garnett Thomas and Zella LeGatha Newman Burnett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Geneva Cox and a brother K.C. Burnette.

He is survived by his wife Linda Burnette of Galax, Virginia; daughters and son-in-law Nadine and Carl Lineberry of Woodlawn, Virginia; Judith Burnette of Galax, Virginia; one grandson Barry Lineberry; one great-grandson Austin Lineberry; sisters Willa Lee Hamilton of Canton, Ohio; Gardella Terry of Woodlawn, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Coulson Church of The Brethren with Pastor Russell Payne and Pastor Hal Sonafrank officiating. Burial will follow in the Coulson Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the Coulson Church of The Brethren. The family request no food or visits to the home please.
