THE FOLLOWING IS A COURTESY BY VAUGHAN-GUYNN FUNERAL HOME
Harry Wade Rutherford age 82 of Santa Paula, California and formerly of Elk Creek, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the Santa Paula Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Rutherford was born on May 10, 1929 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Virgil and Ola Funk Rutherford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Leon, Paige and Elmo Rutherford; brother-in-law Claiborne Sutherland and sister-in-law Ellen Rutherford.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 27 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Amelia Rutherford of the home, son Steven Rutherford of Santa Paula, California; three step-children Teresa Vega of Ventura, California; Tom (Shelia) Sanchez of Santa Paula, California; David (Barbara) Sanchez of Arizona; three grandchildren Nathan, Sophia and Ava Rutherford of Santa Paula, California; brother Olen Rutherford of Fries, Virginia; sister Ruth Sutherland of Fries, Virginia; sisters-in-law Ruby Rutherford Funk of Independence, Virginia; Lucille Rutherford of Ennice, North Carolina and Opal Rutherford of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service and burial will be held in California on Monday, March 12, 2012.
