Harold Mitchell 82, of Taylorwood Road Galax, passed away Wednesday August 5, 2020 at Waddell Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Darylene Blair Mitchell and brother C.M. Mitchell, Jr. He is also survived by nephew Fred Mitchell and niece Mary Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence M. Mitchell, Sr and Gladys Black Mitchell.

Harold was a well known radio personality and master of ceremonies. Besides his radio career, he emceed shows for Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Carl Story and many others. His work included 40 years emceeing the Galax Old Time Fiddlers Convention. His passion for Bluegrass Music and his devotion to the artists who performed helped keep that musical heritage alive.

Following a private family service, Harold was interred at Felts Cemetery in Galax, Va.
