Harold Gordon Akers age 84 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Akers was born in Galax, Virginia on December 4, 1939 to Estell and Bertha Bullins Akers.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Akers of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth Ann and Stanford Lowe of Low Gap, North Carolina; one grandson and wife Brian and Shawna Lowe of Low Gap, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren Christopher Kyle Lowe; Jacob Dale Lowe; and Eric Michael Lowe; special friends Savannah and Alexis; special pet Toby.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev.  Randy Parish officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
