Halsey Lee Lester age 82 of Fries, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Lester was born in McDowell County, West Virginia on February 16, 1930 to John and Cloa Blankenship Lester. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Hattie Lester.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Alan Widner of Fries, Virginia; Tammy and Denny Lawrence of Galax, Virginia; sons Jimmy Lester and Ricky Lester both of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Beulah and Frank Yost of Oak Ridge, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law Elwood and Deanna Lester of Stafford, Virginia; Buddy and Ilene Lester of Troutdale, Virginia; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step grandson; one step-granddaughter; two step- great grandsons; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Effie Bryant of Hillsville, Virginia; Clara Bowman of Danville, Virginia.

Mr. Lester attended the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton, Virginia.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the funeral home.
