Hallie Galyean Smith age 87 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday December 14, 2006 at her home. She was born in Surry County, N.C. on January 7, 1919 to the late John Bruce and Esther Goodson Galyean. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Smith. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Key; Peggy & Harry Crouse; and Janet Smith; her son & daughter-in-law John Wayne & Janie Smith; sister Fern Shores all of Galax, Va.; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday December 16, 2006 at 1:00 PM in the Haven of Rest Bible Church with Keith Ledford; Mark Smith & Joe Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at the Haven of Rest Bible Church. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Haven of Rest Bible Church Renovation Fund.
