Gunda H. Montgomery age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mrs. Montgomery was born on November 3, 1929 in Hanover, Germany. She came to America in 1948 and became a naturalized American citizen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ellie Hencke and a sister, Gisela Emma Hencke.
She is survived by her husand of 55 years James E. Montgomery of Galax, Virgina; daughter Rose Marie Duff of Leonard Town, Maryland; son and daughter-in-law Michael James and Christi Ann Montgomery of Kernersville, North Carolina; two grandsons Marc Edward Duff and James Edward Montgomery II; one granddaughter Mikaela Ann Montgomery; one great-grandson Joseph Tyler Duff and one great-granddaughter Darian Alexandria Duff.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Rich Mullan officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
