Griggs Roberts, 94, of Cranberry Road, Woodlawn, VA passed away Friday evening at his home. He was born in Grayson County, Virginia, September 12, 1914 to Coy Roberts & Lucy Catron Roberts.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Hackler Roberts, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on December 5. Also surviving are two daughters: Linda Roberts of Woodlawn and Virginia Roberts Hamm of Winston-Salem, NC.,two grandchildren Michael Hamm of Winston-Salem, and Deborah H Bryant and husband Henry Bryant, Jr., of N. Potomac, Maryland, two great grandchildren Henry Bryant, III and Andrew Bryant also survive. Two brothers: Roby Roberts and Marshall Roberts & wife Grace all of Independence, VA; three sisters & spouses: Edith Roberts Wright and Raymond, Treva Roberts Hackler & Jesse all of Independence and Fay Roberts Hackler of Woodlawn, survive Mr. Roberts; along with several nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Sunday evening at the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 7 pm with Elder Ronald Bowman officiating. The burial will be held Monday, September 29 at 2:00 PM in the Hackler Cemetery in Pine Mountain section of Grayson County.
