Gloria Jean Key Chambers, born on April 2, 1952, in King, North Carolina, passed away on July 20, 2026. She was known to those who knew who for her warmth, kindness, humor, and steadfast dedication.
Gloria's years were marked by her commitment to the people and places that mattered most to her. She is survived by her daughters Penny Isom (Gloria Pennington) of Princeton, West Virginia, Tina Lowe (Bobby) of Woodlawn, Virginia; Lena Lineberry (Michael) of Sparta North Carolina; son James Isom (Kelley) of Hillsville, Virginia; and father of her children Larry Junior Isom. Her kindness will be remembered by her grandchildren Barbara Isom, Brandon Isom, Jonathan Alley, Kaitlyn Robinson (Tyler), John Pennington, Byron Pennington, Jacob Lineberry, Jonathan Lowe (Heather), Angel Ownbey (Justin) and Austin Isom (Autumn). Also surviving are her great-grandchildren Braylee Codd, Karsen Ownbey, Kaiden Isom, Brayden Lowe, Jeffrey (Jayce) Isom, Waylon Isom, Gracie Isom, Baylor Isom, Trey Isom; sisters Maryann Puckett, Brenda Nelson, Evelyn Hancock; half-sister Michelle Hicks Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents John Henry Hicks and Lily Key Lawson; son Willard Isom; grandson Evan Lineberry; brother Steve Lawson, brother-in-law Hershall Nelson; and nieces Brandee Porter and Melody Porter.
Her family mourns the loss of a woman whose presence brought gentleness and light to every gathering. Though words alone cannot capture the full measure of her life, she will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to share in her journey.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
There will be a Memorial Service held on Sunday July 26, 2026 at 3:00PM at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Combs officiating.
