Glie Thomas Whitaker, 64, of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in the Twin County Regional Hospital. He was born March 7, 1949 to Glie Thomas Whitaker Sr and Sarah Clara Glascoe Whitaker in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife Diana Marie Whitaker of the home; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Cathy Whitaker of Galax; special friends and their children: Joyce and John Burris and Rachel and Jacob all of Galax; niece: Stacy Whitaker; mother-in-law: Wanda Hays of Charleston, West Virginia; sister-in-law: Retta Hays of Charleston, West Virginia; brother-in-law: Burl Hays of Monroe, Michigan; and the Hills Trucking Company family.

The funeral service will be Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Woodlawn Church of Christ with Shawn Hanson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 until 9 o'clock at the funeral home.
