Obituary

Preceded in death by her parents, John Kyle and Rebecca "June" Trent. Brother and sister-in-law, Clifford "Wayne" and Dorothy Trent. Soul-mate Cam Delp. Survived by, Brother, Roy Lee Trent, Niece and husband, Rhonda and Mike Shaffner, Nephew and wife, David and Amber Trent and her best friend forever Lena Fredricks.

Gerlene has gone home to the Lord whom she loved deeply, talked to and thanked faithfully everyday. She loved her family, friends and pets past and present. She held various jobs with total dedication to each one.

She knew no strangers. She wore her heart on her sleeve and went out of her way to help anyone in any way. She was a good conversationalist. She told many interesting stories of her life past and present. She loved country music, playing it or dancing to it. She was well know for her accomplishments in playing music and for dancing locally as well as in the Civic League and her "own music show". In spite of her illnesses and disabilities she would dance, complain about pain and yet would dance again. She loved smoking cigarettes, dining out and enjoyed watching television and life in general. Gerlene did not believe in good-byes. She just said "so long". So, to the lady with a great generous loving heart with heavy hearts we, her family and friends say "so long".

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Flat Rock Cemetery, Grayson County, Virginia wtih Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home; however, the graveside is open to family and friends.
