Rev. Gerald Dean Johnson, 84, passed away September 26, 2023.
A native of Fries, Virgina, son of the late William Henry and Bertha Lugena Fortner Johnson, he was a retired minister and employee for Cline Hose and Hydraulics. Gerald was a 1958 graduate of Fries High School and a graduate of Holmes Theological Seminary in Greenville, South Carolina. He was also a member of Harmony Fellowship Church.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn B. Johnson of the home; two sons, Steve Johnson (Karen) of Jacksonville, Arkansas and Jerry Johnson of Anderson, South Carolina; four daughters, Kathy Shoffner (Mike) of Taylors, South Carolina, Becky Spence (Tyler) of Taylors, South Carolina, Andrea Fortson (Brent) of Zebulon, Georgia, and Charlene Wheeler (Timothy) of Stanley, North Carolina; one brother, Billy Johnson (Nancy) of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law, Carol Johnson of Galax, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Doris Hampton of Galax, Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rev. Johnson was predeceased by his first wife, Faye Hamm Johnson; and one brother, Scotty Johnson.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Harmony Fellowship Church conducted by Rev. Terry Wilkerson.
Visitation will be held 1:30-2:45 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the church. Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2023, in Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Fries, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Fellowship Church, 468 S Suber Rd, Greer, SC 29650.
