George A. Sawyer, Jr. age 78 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 in the Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sawyer was born in Galax, Virginia on August 8, 1938 to George A. and Cleo Isom Sawyer, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Berlene Melton Sawyer of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Kim and Lee Crabill of Baltimore, Maryland; Lisa and Michael Maleske of Knoxville, Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law Tim and Ann Sawyer of Woodlawn, Virginia; step-sons and wife Jason and Lisa Leonard of Dawsonville, Georgia; Randy Leonard of Galax, Virginia; sister Goldie Marshall of Florida; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Felts Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Hendrick officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
