Gary Swanson Hawks age 76 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at his home.

Gary was born on April 26, 1948 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina to Claude Swanson and Ina Mae Robinson Hawks.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Spurlin Hawks; sons Mike Hawks (Dawn Isom); Mitch Hawks (Carrie); sisters and brother-in-law Phyllis Higgins; Denise and David Reeves; brothers and sisters-in-law Pete and Linda Hawks; Ronnie and Theresa Hawks; Doug and Diane Hawks all of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren Eric Hawks (Morgan); Kassie Cornett (Jordan); Trevor Hawks; Karlie Hawks; Kambri Hawks; ; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Pete Hawks; Elder Doug Hawks and Elder Greg Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 PM until time for the service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
