Garnie Walker Burcham, Jr. Better known as "Sonny", age 66, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016, at his home. Sonny was born December 25, 1949 in Carroll County, Virginia to the late Garnie W. Burcham, Sr. and Alene Edwards Burcham.

He is survived by his wife Sue Patton of the home; daughters and sons-in-law: Melissa and Robert Poindexter of Mount Airy, North Carolina; Erin and Aaron Blackburn of Galax, Virginia; Catie Patton of Lincolnton, North Carolina; son Justin Patton of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jama Lee and Scott Hash; Patsy & Bobby Phipps; Peggy Calfee, Arlowene & Mitchell Alderman, Teresa and Hardy Sizemore all of Galax, Virginia; mother-in-law: June Beamer of Galax, Virginia. Four grandchildren, one great grandson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service and burial will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Tim Smith and Rev. Randy Morris officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home, however, a reception will be held in the church fellowship hall after the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
