Garnetta Andrews Hankley age 81 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mrs. Hankley was born on June 21, 1934 in Grayson County, Virginia to Clarence and Pauline Lundy Andrews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters Loretta Gentry and Oleta Vaughan.

She is survived by her husband B.C. Hankley; daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Charles V. Burnette; son and daughter-in-law David and Sandra Hankley all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Carrie Phipps and Sarah Jefferson; great-grandchildren Bry Phipps; Blake Phipps; Brook Phipps and Kade Jefferson; sister Juanita Beck of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; brother-in-law Wade Gentry of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Ernie Smith and Pastor Sam Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church Preschool, 1024 East Stuart Drive, Galax, Virginia 24333.
