Garnett "Poppie" William Bunn age 102 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Bunn was born on November 23, 1913 in Carroll County, Virginia to Willie Hardin and Callie Hill Bunn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Lillie "Nannie" Mae Melton Bunn; two sisters Delta Cain and Audrey Davis; two brothers Wayne Bunn and Roncie Bunn.

He is survived by his children Ralph Bunn, Lois B. Edwards and Carolyn B. Overby; grandchildren and spouses Gary Bunn; Steve Bunn; Mark and Sophia Bunn; Terry and Hee-jin Bunn; Michael and Darlene Edwards; Teresa Marshall ; Tim and Debbie Overby; great-grandchildren Matt, Scott, Cori, Casey, Seviann, Sabree, Briley, Destin, Zack, Tanner and Hunter; special pooch Harley.

The funeral service will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Bunn, Pastor D.G. Fox, Elder Edward Bowman and Joe Branscome officiating. Burial will follow in the Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Freedom Baptist Church. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service at the Freedom Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the Independence Cemetery Fund or to the Freedom Baptist Church. The family also request all food be taken to the Freedom Baptist Church please.
