Garnett Stephen McKenize age 85 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday June 9, 2025 at his home.

Mr. McKenzie was born on May 27, 1940 in Grayson County, Virginia to James Leroy and Ruby Frazier McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Melton McKenzie.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Pippa and Harry Smith of Waverly, West Virginia; Kay and Gary Ramey of Winchester, Virginia; Amanda and Brad Prosser of Radcliff, Kentucky; sisters Agnes McKenzie and Virginia McKenzie both of Galax, Virginia; ten grandchildren; fourteen-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the McKenzie Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Gregory officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
