Frederick Thomas Snell, Sr. age 81 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Snell was born in New York, New York on September 14, 1931 to Howard Eugall and Estella Copperthwaite Snell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Jean Coughi Snell.
Mr. Snell proudly served his country in the US Army.
He is survived by his daughters Donna Cruger of Middle Island, New York; Susan Gurge of Ridge, New York; sons Barry Snell of Medford, New York and Robert Snell of Galax, Virginia; sister Ruth McDonald of Pleasantville, New York; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 6:00 PM in the Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until time for the memorial service at the Fairview Baptist Church.
