Frederick L. Davis age 67 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in the Advent Health Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida.

Frederick was born in Goochland, Virginia on October 7, 1955 to Paul and Ella Mae Kyle Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Frederick Davis, Jr. (Ricky)

As a child Rick loved all sports but basketball was his favorite sport. Rick attended Galax High School and played on the High School Basketball Team. Shortly after high school, Rick took on his real passion. He joined the United States Army where he actively served for more than 20 years before retirement.

Rick loved traveling and his Army career gave him the opportunity to see the world. Rick's other passion was driving and he was never more proud than when he went to Germany and watched his BMW being built. Though he was retired from the military, his passion for driving led him to the UBER World. He loved showing his passengers the Nations Capital. During the last 5 years, Rick resided in the Philippines where he married Emelita Davis.

Rick took flight on Monday, April 3, 2023, in Orange City, Florida, making his stay on earth 67 years, 5 months and 27 days.

He is survived by his wife, Emelita Davis of Philippines; daughters Shannon Free Davis of Florida; Ricarra Davis of Alabama. He also leaves to mourn his death five siblings William P. Davis of Debary, Florida; Sylvia and Jackie Richardson; Marie Crockett all of Galax, Virginia; Doug and Chris Davis of Lorton, Virginia; Carmen Davis and Peter James of Deltona, Florida; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the Mt. Zion Holiness Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM at the Mt. Zion Holiness Church with the Rev. Stevie Richardson and Minister Dionne Tucker officiating. The burial will be in the Oldtown Cemetery with Military Honors.
