Fred Padgett age 84 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Heritage Hall-Laurel Meadows Nursing Home.
Mr. Padgett was born in Carroll County, Virginia on June 3, 1928 to Edward and Mary Phibbs Padgett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Esther Padgett.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Laura Padgett of Galax, Virginia; sisters Ethel Funk of Hillsville, Virginia and Lucille Marshall of Woodlawn, Virginia; brothers Melvin Padgett and Friel Padgett both of Woodlawn, Virginia; Morgan Padgett of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Jim Longest officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
