Frances Lois Bowers Sawyers age 77 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Sawyers was born on Sunday, July 24, 1932 in Galax, Virginia to Lawton and Della Smith Bowers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Garland Sawyers.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Drema and Buck Crigger of Elk Creek, Va.; sons and daughter-in-law Bobby and Brenda Sawyers, Ricky Sawyers and Mike Sawyers all of Galax, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law Lessi May Brown, Shelby Edwards, Mary Ann Alley, Sue & Dewayne Spencer all of Galax, Virginia; Minni Lee & Virgil Cox of Gibsonville, North Carolina; Janie Lou Davis of Wytheville, Virginia; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law Betty Bowers of Maryland; special Lil' Girl Ashley Dowell Edwards of Piney Creek, North Carolina; special niece and caregiver Patsy Sharp Leonard of Galax, Virginia and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Charles Smythers officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from one until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
