Frances Belle Bowers Mabe, 83, of Galax passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 in the Waddell Nursing Home.  Mrs. Mabe was born October 15, 1939 to the late Sherman John Bowers and Dorothy Burnette Bowers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arland Axton Mabe, sister Mary Tate and  brothers Buford Bowers and Frazier Bowers.

Mrs. Mabe is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Leslie and John Bates of Galax; Arlene and Gregory Horton of Fancy Gap; three grandchildren Miles Bates of Winston-Salem, NC; Ivan Bates and Stephanie of Christiansburg; Alexandra Horton and partner Jonathan Foster of Fancy Gap; three great grandchildren Molly Roten, Adlei Bates and Marilyn Foster; sister Sue Phillips and significant other Roy Goad of Galax.  Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the  Hebron Church of Christ with Billy Burnette and Sammy Burnette officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lineberry Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM  until time for the service.
