Frances Durham Hoffman, age 82 formerly of Galax, Va. passed away February 5, 2010 in New Jersey. She was pre-deceased by Sam, her husband of 61 years. They lived most of their married lives in Galax and were members of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Frances was born December 16, 1927 in Ronda, N.C.. She was one of thirteen children of the late Walter and Vettie Durham. Three of her siblings survive her.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her three children and their families. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Ret. Lt. Col. Sam and Wendy Hoffman of Goochland, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law Elaine and George Hermey of Port Monmouth, New Jersey; Janet and Rick Stout of Byron, Ga.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

The funeral service will be conducted at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home in Galax, Va. on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 12:00 o'clock noon with Rev. Jimmie Moore officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery.
