Edward Floyd Leonard age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 in the Golden Living Center.

Mr. Leonard was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 23, 1926 to Champion and Callie Bourne Leonard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Leonard.

Mr. Leonard proudly served our country in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Dixie Edward and Mimi Leonard; Mitchell and Shelby Leonard all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Jake and Angie Leonard; Erin and Timothy Leath; Paden and Terra Leonard; great-grandchildren Saige Leonard; Jayden Leonard; Stetson Leonard; Jonathan Leath; Jacob Leath; Savanaha Thomas and Allison Leonard; sister Frances Frick of Richmond, Virginia; brother David Leonard of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Leonard Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Leonard Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time for the funeral service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Leonard Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery, C/O Christine Patton, 1883 Cliffview Road, Galax, Virginia 24333.
