Fielden H. Anderson better known as Tater Anderson age 86 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Mr. Anderson was born in Grayson County, Virginia on April 3, 1933 to James and Jessie Webb Anderson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Linda A. Hampton.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Anderson; one grandson Brandon Hampton; three great-grandsons; one sister Janet Hugo; two sisters-in-law Alice Anderson and Pearl Anderson.

He joined the US Navy December 13, 1956 and was honorably discharged January 14, 1961.

Tater worked with the Scouts at the First United Methodist Church for several years. He was employed at AEP from 1959 to 1992. Tater also served in the Galax Volunteer Fire Department for 55 years.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Felts Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Tom Whartenby officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations  to  the Galax Fire Department, P.O. Box 147, Galax, Virginia 24333.
