Everette Elwood Newman, Jr. better known as Sonny Newman age 70 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday September 21, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Newman was born in Galax, Virginia on May 30, 1952 to Everette Elwood and Doris Brown Newman.

He proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Mary Newman; sons and daughters-in-law Barry and Tonia Newman; Jason and Joanie Newman; daughters and sons-in-law Freedom and David Leath; Summer and Jamie Brewer all of Galax, Virginia; Heidi Rodriguez of Roanoke, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Pat and Roger Martin of Galax, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece Lisa Irvin and one nephew Mark Martin.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Bible Baptist Church with Sammy Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the service at the Bible Baptist Church.
