Everett Lee Viar, Sr. age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 in the Waddell Nursing Home.

Mr. Viar was born on May 1, 1924 in Wythe County, Virginia to Carvin and Allie Kay Crigger Viar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Viar.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law Delores Brewer of Galax, Virginia; Betty Brown of Dublin, Virginia; Barbara and James (Jimmy) Dickson of Fries, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Everett Viar, Jr. and Linda of Waxahachie, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Eleanor and Donald Scott of Max Meadows, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Harold Viar of Fries, Virginia; Hensel and Linda Viar of Ivanhoe, Virginia; Tommy and Sue Viar of Piney; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from seven until nine at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
