Everett Elwood Newman, Sr. age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Newman was born in Galax, Virginia on October 24, 1924 to Everett V. and Cleo Hackler Newman.
He is survived by his wife Patty Newman of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Pat and Roger Martin of Galax, Virginia; son Elwood (Sonny) Newman, Jr. of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren Lisa Martin Irvin, Mark Alan Martin, Barry Newman and Jason Newman.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the First Christian Church with Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either the Twin County Hospice or the Galax Volunteer Fire Department.
