Evelyn Smith Farmer, age 92, of 2938 Lime Kiln Rd., Fries, Virginia passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Blue Ridge, Galax, VA.

Mrs. Farmer was born Sept. 18, 1918 in Carroll County, Virginia to Glenn & Mattie Mabry Smith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Edgar Farmer; granddaughter Lisa Shaw Anders; two sisters and four brothers.

She is survived by two daughters & sons-in-law, Sandra & Rodney Coleman, Fries, VA and Nancy & Bryan Shaw, Independence, VA; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby & Mousie Farmer, Pensacola, FL; sisters and brother-in-law Frankie & Bill Carico, Fries, VA and Evelyn Smith, Bennettsville, SC; special friends, Geraldine Trent & Anette Thomas; special nephew, Jessie Lovell; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Several other nieces & nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010 in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel at 2:30 PM with Rev. Ted Bartlett and Butch Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Flowers will be appreciated, however memorial contributions may be made to the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or the Fries Fire Department.
