Evelyn Akers Carico

Evelyn Jean Akers Carico age 88 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026 in the Galax Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Carico was born on January 24, 1938 in Carroll County, Virginia to Acy Lee and Mary Mae Bourne Akers.

She is survived by her husband Wayne Edgar Carico; daughter and son-in-law Lorrie Ann and Mark Valentine; son and daughter-in-law Tony Wayne and Kris Carico all of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Robert Lee “Buddy” and Nancy Akers of Fries, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Anne Chappell; Juanita and Jimmy Sawyers all of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law Violet Akers of Marion, South Carolina; five grandchildren Seth Valentine; Heather Bodden; Nicole Flores; Harrison Carico and Dakota Carico; five great-grandchildren Liana Flores; Luka Flores; Presley Bodden; Delaney Bodden and Ava Valentine; several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 3rd at 2:00 PM in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses with Robert Stiers officiating. There will be no visitation.
