Ethel W. Leagan age 87 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday afternoon in Waddell Nursing Home. Mrs. Leagan was born in Carroll County, Va. on February 3, 1920 to the late Joseph Kenley & Rosamond Higgins Ward. In additon to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Howard Leagan. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Joe & Jennifer Leagan of Bristol, Tennessee; sisters & brother-in-law Pauline Robinson of Salem, Va.; Betty Perdue of Matthews, N.C.; Hattie & Pierce Collins of Galax, Va.; brother & sister-in-law Charles K. & Narmel Ward of Knoxville, Tennessee; one granddaughter. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 22, 2007 at 10:00 AM in Mt. Vale United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Lindamood officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The body will lie-in-state one hour before the funeral service.
