Ethel Nina Hanks age 83 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Hanks was born on May 10, 1928 in Carroll County, Virginia to Troy and Ada Lowe Rippey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Hanks.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Pauline and Lonnie Hawks; Lura McCraw all of Galax, Virginia; Virginia and James Combs of Lexington, North Carolina; Vera Combs of Fancy Gap, Virginia; brothers and sisters-in-law Charlie and Geraldine Rippey; Lloyd and Wanda Rippey all of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law Lucille Rippey of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special friends Ralph and Jama Lee Nichols.
The funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2012 at 8:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Eddie Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Elk Horn Baptist Church.
