Obituary

Ethel June Goad Beamer age 96 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday September 2, 2021 at the home of her granddaughter Catie Patton in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

Mrs. Beamer was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina on July 12, 1925 to Charles Reid and Sadie Poole Goad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Creasy Beamer; son-in-law Craig Patton and four brothers.

Foremost, June was a beacon of Christ's Church, here on earth. Her Love for Jesus and her Faith in God was the driving force of her entire 96 year life. She was a member of the Haymore Baptist Church of Mt Airy, North Carolina, attended the Galax Friends Meeting for many decades, member of the Galax Fire Department Auxiliary, a Den Mother of Boy Scouts of Galax, a member of the Galax Garden Club, and the Manager of Roses Cafeteria for 20+ years. A dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her neighborhood, neighbors and friends held a special place in her heart. Her family was the joy of her life-forever known as "The Nana" and Flossie Beamer.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Michael and Terry Beamer of Asheville, North Carolina; daughters and son-in-law Sue Beamer Patton; Mary Margaret and Bernie Rector all of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Jason and Allison Beamer of Cornelius, North Carolina; Sarah and Robert Benton of Savannah, Georgia; Justin Patton and Rebecca Nester; Erin and Aaron Blackburn all of Galax, Virginia; Catie Patton of Lincolnton, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren Avery; Abby and Bowman Beamer all of Cornelius, North Carolina; Marshall Benton of Savannah, Georgia; Xander Patton of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Lucy Blackburn and Sadie Blackburn both of Galax, Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Barbara Jean Johnson; Mary Jo and Clayton Simpson all of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; several  nieces and nephews; special friends Carmen Sumner; Peggy Sumner and Megan Patton.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with James Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
