Ethel Mae Funk age 87 of Fries, Va. passed away Monday, June 9, 2008 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Funk was born on February 22, 1921 in Carroll County, Va. to Charlie & Minnie Williams Hill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dan Hardin Funk. She is survived by her daughter Kay Newman and son Harold Funk both of Fries, Va.; sister Mildred Payne of Darlington, Maryland; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bill Linkous officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
