Estel Junior Carpenter age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Carpenter was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 7, 1930 to Ambrose and Minnie Norman Carpenter. In addition to his parent he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Baumgardner Carpenter.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his son Arlan Carpenter of Laurel, Delaware; two grandchildren and spouses Amy and Travis Goad of Hillsville, Virginia; Chris and Deana Carpenter of Galax, Virginia; four great-grandchildren Ryan Carpenter; Blake Goad; Megan Goad and Jacey Goad; uncle James Norman of Galax, Virginia; nephew and wife Jimmy and Linda Alley of Honea Path, South Carolina; several other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Chaplain Ricky Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Saddle Mountain Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
