Elsie Isabelle Williams age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 in the Salem Health & Rehab Center in Salem, Va.. Mrs. Williams was born in Carroll County, Va. on December 11, 1928 to Harvey & Effie Newman Phipps. She is survived by her husband Johnie James Williams of Galax, Va.; daughter Myra Allen of Roanoke, Va.; sons Richard Tyree Williams of Price George, Va.; Gregory Williams of Galax, Va.; sister Roberta Jefferson of Denver, Colorado; brother Weldon Phipps of Galax, Va.; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews and a host of relatives & friends. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Sidney Beamer and Bishop Harry Cohn officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour before the funeral service. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Mt.Zion Holiness Church.
