Eleanor Ward Carpenter, age 86, of Sparta, North Carolina passed away at The Landings of Chestnut Grove on April 4, 2023.

Eleanor was born in Cox's Chapel at home, on January 31, 1937, to Osco H. Ward and De Ette Cox Ward.

Eleanor graduated from Sparta High School and worked at Hanes in Sparta. Eleanor later worked and retired from Sparta Elementary School, as a teacher's aide and school bus driver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Carpenter and son-in-law Keith Oliver.

She is survived by her daughter Yvonne Oliver three grandchildren and their spouses, Meghan and Brian Norris, Nelson Oliver and Holly Harper, and Logan and Celeste Oliver; and three great-grandchildren Emerson and Nora Beth Norris, and Whitman Oliver.

The service will be held at the Sparta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michelle Foster-Beckerleg officiating on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
