Elaine Hall East age 91 of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. East was born on March 17, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to F. Garnett and Holland McManus Hall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Sam East.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jerry Mink of Woodlawn, Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Charlotte East of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouse Katy and Dan Kaskinen; Emily Mink; step-grandchildren and spouses Robin and Greg O'Conner; Scott Frye; Paige and Cary Shumate; sister Eugenia Tolliver of Ennice, North Carolina; brother W.E Hall of Morristown, Tennessee; brother-in-law and spouse Arlan and Joan East of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Rex Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1024 East Stuart Drive Galax, Virginia 24333 or to the Hope House, 408 West Center Street, Galax, Virginia 24333.
