Effie Christine Maxwell age 66 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 in Waddell Nursing Home. She was born in Grayson County, Va. on July 13, 1941 to Walter & Gretchen Tucker Gwyn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Maxwell. She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law Veronica & Kenneth Sams of Galax, Va.; sisters Lela Nelson of Alexandria, Va. and Peggy Blair of Galax, Va.; brothers James Gwyn of Independence, Va.; Douglas Gwyn & Dean Gwyn both of Galax, Va.; Dennis Gwyn of Alexandria, Va.; Thomas Gwyn of Chicago, Illinois; two grandsons; a host of nieces & nephews and a host of other relatives & friends. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 30, 2007 at 1:00 PM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Daryl E. Beamer, Sr. & Rev. Sidney Beamer officiating. Burial will follow in the Oldtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
