Edward Dean May's Obituary
Edward Dean May, of Galax, Virginia, passed away on December 27, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Edward was born on September 8, 1940 in Ashe County, North Carolina to Robert Todd May and Ethel Graham May.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Suzie Johnson May of Galax, Virginia, son Robert Edward May and Victoria Lee Conn of Mebane, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Donald Glen Johnson and Barbara Bell Johnson of Galax, Virginia, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was an educator of children by profession, which he loved dearly. He never stopped learning, reading, studying or teaching to those around him. He was an outdoorsman, a craftsman, an architect, a lover of animals and nature. Above all he was a gentleman and scholar.
As per his last request, a small and private service will be held at a later date and location yet to be determined.
The family would like to ask in lieu of flowers or gifts, that donations be made in his name to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
