Edward Odean Jefferson age 78 of Fries, Virginia passed away Monday, September 14, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Jefferson was born on October 8, 1936 in Wythe County, Virginia to Conley Otto and Opal Gladys Barker Jefferson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Faye Jefferson and a son Keith Edward Jefferson.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Opal Mae and Dennis Funk of Greensboro, North Carolina; Sheila and Shon Carico of Woodlawn, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law James and Crystal Jefferson of Fries, Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Marlene and Jack Russell of Rural Hall, North Carolina; Emma Jean and Robert Williams; Angeline and Bernard Taylor all of Kernersville, North Carolina; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Susan Jefferson of Kernersville, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday September 16, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor Roy Johnson and the Rev. Mike Jefferson officiating. Burial will be held Thursday September 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
