Edward Douglas Delp age 78 of Hickory, North Carolina passed away Thursday, May 23,2019 in the Carolina Caring Hospice House in Newton, North Carolina.

Mr. Delp was born in Carroll County, Virginia on September 12, 1940 to Frank William and Lydia Emmelene Walker Delp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Wanda Reece and three brothers Lawrence Bain Delp,  Marvin Delp and Harold Delp.

He is survived by his wife Viola Morris Delp of Hickory, North Carolina; daughters and sons-in-law Teresa Darlene and John Whitener of Mountain City, Tennessee; Ginger and Kenneth Wilson of Taylorsville , North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Constance Delp of Maiden, North Carolina; siblings and spouses Pat and Joe Alman of Atlanta, Georgia; Lavon and Glenn Henderson of Whitesville, West Virginia; Janie Delp; Roger and Linda Delp; Freddie and Christine Delp; Rawlan and Tammy Delp; Donald and Sherry Delp all  of Woodlawn, Virginia; John and Hazel Delp of Galax, Virginia; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM in the Walker Cemetery with Dr. Hampton Drum officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
