Edna Marie Carico Russell age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at her home.

Mrs. Russell was born in Grayson County, Virginia on August 12, 1937 to Glenn and Thelma Sutherland Carico. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Suzanne Russell and brothers Bud Carico and Billy Carico.

She is survived by her husband Guy Russell, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Kim Russell all of Galax, Virginia; sisters Brenda Haynes and Charlotte Cloud both of King, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law John Carico; Allen and Judy Carico all of King, North Carolina; Jack and Judy Carico of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two grandchildren and spouse Alexa Russell; Channing Combs and Jarrett; three great-grandsons Easton, Saylor and Dayton Combs; sister-in-law Gaynelle Carico; several nieces and nephews; special caregiver Christy Wall.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 4:00 PM at the Locust Grove Church of Christ with Craig Embree officiating. Burial will follow in the Russell's Fields. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the church. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Mt.
